Hotels in Sirmour


Sirmaur District is situated on the Shivalik range and is surrounded by Shimla district in North, Solan district in North-West, Haryana in South, and the state of Uttar Pradesh in East. Few major rivers and lakes in the district are Yamuna, Markanda, Giri, Ghaggar, Tons, Jalal Bata etc. Tourists come here to enjoy the unspoilt beauty of nature. Some of the places of tourist interest are: 

Nahan is the district headquarters of Sirmour. The town is located at an altitude of 932 metres from the sea level and enjoys a pleasant climate all throughout the year. Tourists come here to enjoy the natural beauty and a number of temples and tanks located here. 

Jaitak Fort: In the history of Sirmour Jaitak hills occupies an important place. Here the famous battle between the British forces and the Gurkhas were fought. Jamta falls lies about 19 km to the north of Nahan, on the Nahan-Dadahu road. There is a hill fortress on the Jaitak hill, built by Ranjor Singh Thapa, the legendary Gurkha leader. 

The Churdhar Mountain in Sirmaur is the highest peak in southern Himachal Pradesh. It belongs to the Shivalik ranges at an elevation of 11965 feet. It is popularly known as Churichandni, which means Bangle of Snow, presents some of the most fantastic and beautiful landscapes of the district. 

Haripur Dhar is a mountain range, the rulers of former Sirmour State built a fort on this range of mountain to protect the state boundaries from the neighbouring Jubbal State. Some of the other tourist places Sirmaur District are Shivalik Fossils Park, Renuka Ji, Rajgarh, Trilokpur, Poanta Sahib, Sarahan etc.

Air: Chandigarh is nearest airport, which is 87-km from Nahan. 
Rail: Ambala is the nearest Railhead 63-km from Nahan. 
Road: Nahan is well connected by road. Regular buses and taxis are available from Ambala and Chandigarh. Regular bus services linking it to the other towns like Manali, Delhi and Haridwar are also available.
